The ARMO

Mountains Two

Something about Mount Everest has always fascinated me. The tallest mountain, Everest stands above sea level at a staggering 29,029 feet. To read the stories of the people that have climbed Mount Everest is to be challenged in overcoming our own personal mountains in life! How about a few examples!

Ming Kipa Sherpa, a 15-year-old Sherpa girl was the youngest to successfully climb Everest.

1978 Reinhold Messner (Italy) and Peter Habeler (Austria) reached the summit, the first climbers to do so without the use of supplemental oxygen.

1998 Welshman Tom Whittaker became the first disabled person (amputee) to successfully reach the summit of Everest.

On May 25, 32 year old Erik Weihenmayer, of Boulder, Colorado, became the first blind person to reach the summit.

How epic that these people were able to overcome overwhelming odds to climb up a natural mountain! I think about our own lives. We have weaknesses. We have disabilities. We have what seems like a lack of breathe to run the race sometimes. But thankfully our God is greater than all of our weaknesses. When we are weak He is made strong. So my challenge to The ARMO and to anyone that would read this is to face the mountains in your life. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world! Lead us up the MOuntain Lord.
